Multi Cultural Ministry
St. Vincent de Paul is an very diverse community of believers. With that we have the responsibility to respect and honor each other's cultures. There are several ways we do that here at St. Vincent.
Each Fall we celebrate the our diversity by having a Multi-Cultural Mass. In this mass the readings are presented in various languages, breads of many cultures are presented at the altar and blessed and parishioners are asked to come dressed in the clothing of their native land.
In December we celebrate the Filipino community with an annual Simbang Gabi. The traditional lanterns are presented and placed within the sanctuary by the children and a large feast follows the Mass in the social hall. This year our celebration is scheduled for December 21st.
El Shaddai is a charismatic Filipino group that meets at St. Vincents each Sunday in the lower level of the Willenborg Center Rm "A" at 1:00 p.m.
The Samoan Choir practices and ministers to all of us at the 5:00 Mass on Saturdays, once a month.
Other multi-cultural groups are welcome and encouraged to form and promote the diversity of our parish.
As one of our parishioners said from the Ambo as she gazed on the faces of our church community one day at Mass "I imagine this is what heaven will look like".
